"the boys" was an excellent movie! Before it started, the guitarists from the new "Poppin' Guitars" album played -- and afterward, Mr. Richard Sherman himself sang and told stories behind the songs "For Now, For Always" from The Parent Trap, "Ugly Bug Ball" from Summer Magic, "She/He Danced With Me" from The Slipper and the Rose, "It Won't be Long 'Til Christmas" from The Happiest Millionaire, "The River Song" from Tom Sawyer and a touching, ballad version of, yes,"it's a small world." According to the Sherman cousins who made the film, there are 183 song cues in the whole film -- and surprisingly, this Walt Disney Pictures releases also includes generous helpings of non-Disney Sherman classics like Tom Sawyer, Snoopy Come Home, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Charlotte's Web (which marks the first time that Hanna-Barbera animation appeared in a Disney film unless you count Popeye, which Disney co=produced with Paramount). The crowd was clamoring for the DVD release of the boys, which has the potential to contain even more interview footage.
It was a fantastic presentation, and that finale was about as good as it gets. Although I really hoped he'd sing "Meet the World". :) The movie was FANTASTIC - even better than expected - and a fascinating look at a bittersweet and unexpectedly complicated relationship. Hope all those other interviews make it to DVD...
To parody a scene in Happiest Millionaire: "It's a small world"? Is that a new song? Never heard of it!
